Once confirmed, we will provide you with an online questionnaire to complete as the first step of our consultation process. This questionnaire allows you to share your unique aesthetic and preferences, and kickstart the planning journey.

Where does April & Fritz work?

Within the walls of our private studio in Melbourne/Naarm, April & Fritz curates bespoke floral works of art that transcends borders - creating designs for our local community, nationally and internationally.

Is my florist sustainable?

At the core of our design philosophy is a deep commitment to the planet that enables us to do this beautiful work. Our approach proudly eliminates the use of foam, a common and toxic single-use plastic employed by many florists. We employ sustainable and reusable techniques for all our installations, utilizing chicken wire, kenzans, and reusable vessels. We strive to incorporate 100% Australian grown flowers into our designs, celebrating the beauty of seasonal and locally sourced blooms.

Are there restrictions on flowers for my event?

The floral industry is closely tied to nature, and therefore the seasons, making it susceptible to weather-related circumstances beyond our control. As a result, the availability of flowers can be greatly influenced by these factors. We are committed to obtaining the flowers you request, providing they are in season. If they are not accessible, we will make sure to find an appropriate substitute.

How much should I allocate for my floral investment?

Every event will be different. Based on our experience, we recommend setting aside 10-15% of your overall event budget. However, if you wish for florals to be a significant and memorable part of your event, we suggest allocating 25-30% of your total budget to achieve the desired effect. We will always ask your budget and make suggestions to create the greatest impact.

How far in advance should I book my florist?

To ensure the utmost dedication to every client and project, April & Fritz have a restricted number of bookings available each year. To secure your desired date, we recommend reaching out early. Our calendar opens for reservations up to twelve months in advance.

What is the cost of delivery for my flowers?

The cost of delivery is determined by the distance we need to travel and the number of vehicles required for transportation. Additionally, the labor charges depend on the hours needed to prepare and install your floral arrangements, along with the staffing required to bring your overall event vision to life.

Do I need a vision for my event?

The world of floral design offers an array of options. To initiate our consultation, we encourage you to browse through some inspiring photos or ideas that captivate your imagination. By sharing these with us, we can collaborate and expand on your vision together. Our focus is on crafting a refined overall aesthetic and ambiance for your special day, emphasising the essence and atmosphere you're trying to create rather than getting lost in intricate details.

Can I make adjustments to my flowers after we're booked?

At April & Fritz, we anticipate that adjustments may be necessary and that your overall vision may develop over time. As we approach the date, we can make additions and rearrangements to ensure everything is perfectly aligned. Approximately six weeks before the event, we will have another conversation to fine-tune and confirm all the specific aspects, after which your floral design is set.

Can I repurpose flowers from my event?

Floral arrangements are generally flexible and movable, unless they are securely attached to existing structures such as an arbor. However, it's important to consider how weather conditions may affect the longevity of your flowers. Please note that we do not provide disassembly and redesign services for arrangements; if repurposing is required, they will need to be moved as a whole.

What guidance can my florist offer to simplify event planning?

At April & Fritz, we believe you should opt for a vendor you genuinely love and trust. Look for vendors whose style and energy align with your preferences, rather than solely focusing on the lowest quote. Vendors aim is to support you throughout the entire process and ensure it's an enjoyable one.

Hi, I’m Bree

I have vivid childhood memories of spending time on my grandparents’ property - some of the happiest times of my life. It was here that my love for flowers and nature began. I remember climbing trees, playing with the dogs and chickens, and exploring their plant-filled garden and nursery. Their home was a gathering place where my family would come together to celebrate life’s moments, both big and small.

After working at a global technology company for five years, with a side hobby of floristry beginning to bloom, I was suddenly made redundant. Rather than seeing this as a setback, I saw it as an opportunity to follow my dreams and start my own floral design business. As I sat down to start planning, I asked myself: ‘Why am I passionate about this?’ My memories brought me back to my grandparents’ property - the flower gardens and the time spent with family. While looking through old photo albums, reliving the memories, I came across a photo of my brother and me in our grandparents’ garden with our two dogs, April and Fritz. And just like that, the brand was born.

We’re a floristry studio that supports local growers by using seasonal flowers. We’re more than happy to include specific flowers providing that they are in season and available.
While the seasons do give us some predictability, there's never any guarantee that specific flowers will be available.
Our approach is to understand what it was that your person loved about particular flowers - was it the daintiness? The fluffiness? The colour? Or brought back a specific memory?
When we have this information it helps us find substitutes that give the same look and feel if specific flowers aren't available.
As a starting point, we recommend looking at our Seasonal Flowers Guide to see if the flower is in season. We'll then work with local flower farms and growers to get this for you if we can.

We are a sustainable floristry studio, meaning we support the environmental, social and economic requirements of present and future generations. We do not use single-use plastics where possible, we have a strict no floral foam policy and we do not use imported flowers unless absolutely necessary to reduce our carbon footprint.
